Welcome to the PRISM division of the Candler County School District
The Candler County School System is actively involved in the five-year PRISM grant (Partnership for Reform in Science and Mathematics). The National Science Foundation awarded the $34.6 million grant to the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia to strengthen math and science programs. Candler County Schools are part of the East Central Georgia Region of PRISM, along with Bulloch, Evans, Screven, Effingham, Toombs, and Vidalia City School Systems. All of the school systems in East Central PRISM are in partnership with Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.
PRISM provides professional development training for math and science teachers through a variety of means such as mini-grants, workshops, and conferences. The outdoor classroom at Metter Elementary School and the CBL labs at Metter High School are just two examples of successful PRISM mini-grants in our school system.
PRISM sponsors the Math and Science Family Night in our schools. This program provides an excellent opportunity for parents and students to explore the wonders of science and the excitement of math.
